Review: The Ex Hex

THIS!  This is the spooky season rom-com I desperately needed! Nine years ago Vivienne and her cousin did the one thing you are never supposed to do – mix magic with alcohol.  Now, Vivi must work with her nemesis (dreamy ex-boyfriend) Rhys to set the magic right and save the town, all because of an accidental curse.

This book was HILARIOUS.  I love the chaotic energy of the little family coven.  Gwyn is the best friend/cousin we all need!  The three of them together – pure magic.  Rhys fits perfectly into the mix and the chemistry between Vivi and Rhys is off the charts.  Their connection and banter is top tier.  I loved their interactions and the steamy scenes were fabulous.  I also really loved the small town setting.  It sounds like a really cute place to visit and I’m lowkey mad I will never have the pleasure.

Was it a little cheesy?  Sure… but it’s a rom-com.  It’s to be expected.  The humor and heat more than make up for a little cheesy predictability.  I absolutely loved The Ex Hex and think it deserves all the hype and more.  I’m looking forward to a re-read in the near future.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

About the Book

Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.

That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.

Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.
